The Chicago Bears Collin Wehr Scholarship

The Chicago Bears Collin Wehr Scholarship program provides financial assistance to young cancer survivors or the siblings of children who lost their battle with pediatric cancer. The scholarship program is designed to ease the financial and emotional hardships associated with fighting cancer and to provide the opportunity for young people affected by cancer to pursue their post-secondary education from an accredited university, college, community college, or vocational technical school.

The inspiration for this scholarship comes from our dear friend, Collin Wehr, who ended his battle with pediatric cancer in March 2013. Collin first visited Halas Hall in 2011 to fulfill his wish of being a NFL Network reporter and reporting live from Halas Hall alongside Tom Waddle. Collin and the Wehr family became a permanent part of the Bears family that day, and this scholarship serves as a tribute to this very special young man.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
• Survivor of pediatric cancer, currently receiving treatment for pediatric cancer, or the sibling of a child who bravely fought but ended their battle with pediatric cancer
• Cancer diagnosis occurred before age 18 and applicant is younger than age 23 at the time of application
• Currently completing senior year of high school and/or scheduled to graduate from high school during this school year or currently enrolled in an accredited university, college, community college or vocational technical school
• Accepted without condition to an accredited university, college, community college or vocational technical school
• Must become a full-time student at an accredited university, college, community college or vocational technical school in the U.S. during the upcoming academic year
• Must be a U.S. citizen and a resident of Illinois or northwest Indiana

SCHOLARSHIP AWARD:
The Chicago Bears Collin Wehr Scholarship program will provide a one-time, non-renewable scholarship. The scholarship can be used to pay tuition, books, and room and board at an accredited university, college, community college or vocational technical school. Once enrollment in a post-secondary institution is confirmed, the Chicago Bears will pay the scholarship directly to the academic institution.

All applicants must be either a survivor of pediatric cancer, currently receiving treatment for pediatric cancer, or the sibling of a child who lost their battle with pediatric cancer. Applicants will be required to verify this information, and those who do not meet these criteria will not be eligible for this scholarship.
