Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship

The 2026 College of DuPage Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship is available to College of DuPage students on a competitive basis. Award amount is $1,000.

ELIGIBILITY
• Student at College of DuPage enrolled for the spring 2026 semester
• 2.5 Cumulative grade point average

EVALUATION CRITERIA
Your submission must address the following:

• How have the ideals taught and demonstrated by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. made an impact on your life?
• How will or how do you specifically make an impact on the lives of others based on MLKs teachings? (Include your work and volunteer efforts, activities and affiliations, personal and professional qualities, etc.).
• Your cumulative grade point average.

TYPES OF SUBMISSIONS ACCEPTED
There are two (2) ways for you to submit, choose one:
1. Essay. Provide a minimum 500-word essay (no more than 750 words). Please include an introduction, body and conclusion.
2. Oral presentation. You can set up a meeting with the review team and give a 10-minute oral presentation of your content. This can include reading your submission.

The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship Award Luncheon will take place on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM. The selected recipient must attend the luncheon and deliver a brief acceptance speech.
